Outdoor Policies

Thank you for choosing Front Range Strings. We are looking forward to providing stellar live music for your event!

The following information about outdoor events is included in your contract. These policies exist to help us protect our valuable antique instruments.

  1. Cover and Shade
Our musicians need to be covered and completely shaded in order to perform outdoors. Our instruments are easily damaged by wind, rain, and direct sunlight. You must provide one of the following:

    1. A permanent structure at the venue, such as a covered porch, awning, or gazebo, which will also provide shade at the time of day of your wedding, or
    2. A pop-up canopy tent.
If you choose to provide a tent, it must be secured with stakes or weights.

The quartet requires a space of about 10’ by 10’ to play. The trio and duo can work within a slightly smaller space. If you’re providing a tent, we suggest 10’ x 10′. If you’re using a structure at the site, please ensure it provides a large enough area for us to set up.

  1. Temperature

In order for us to perform outdoors, the temperature must be at or above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Colder temperatures can damage our instruments, and make it physically difficult for us to move our fingers quickly enough to play for you.

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding and are concerned about our temperature policy, let’s talk. We are sometimes able to make exceptions to this policy on a case by case basis, but all exceptions must be made in advance and noted in your contract. We are unable to make changes to this policy on the day of the event.

Please let us know if you have questions or concerns. We’ve played outdoors at hundreds of events, and we try to be as flexible as possible. We want you to be completely comfortable, so please do check in with us if you’d like to know more about how these policies apply to your particular event. Thank you!
